Emergencies that aren’t life-threatening can be addressed at an Ogden Clinic walk-in location near your home. Ogden Clinic’s Urgent Care facilities have in-house X-rays, lab testing, and equipment required to treat urgent medical conditions like a burning fever or even a broken bone.
The ER is meant for true emergencies, which is why it’s usually staffed 24 hours a day. ER staff can handle trauma, surgical procedures, and other life-threatening situations. Ogden Clinic Urgent Care is not open 24 hours per day, but all of our locations have evening and weekend hours to serve your family.
Waiting can be a literal pain. Both Urgent Care and the ER experience high patient volumes, especially after hours and on the weekends.
Which facility has longer wait times? That entirely depends on the volume of patients during your visit. The difference between Urgent Care and the ER is that Urgent Care does not address life-threatening situations. If a patient with this type of injury or illness enters Urgent Care, the patient will be directed to the hospital immediately. Because the ER handles life-threatening emergencies, you may be waiting longer in your exam room if a more severe case enters the ER during your visit.
